The Knee Ankle Foot Orthosis (KAFO) is a custom-made lower limb orthotic device designed to provide comprehensive support, stability, and alignment to the knee, ankle, and foot. It is prescribed for individuals with muscle weakness, paralysis, ligament instability, neuromuscular disorders, or lower limb deformities that affect standing and walking.
Manufactured using high-quality medical-grade thermoplastic, carbon fiber, or metal components, the custom-made KAFO is individually fabricated from precise measurements or casts to ensure an anatomical fit and maximum comfort. It helps improve gait, enhances stability during the stance phase, prevents abnormal joint movement, and promotes greater independence in daily activities. Multiple knee joint mechanisms-including drop lock, spring lock, bail lock, stance-control, and offset knee joints can be incorporated based on the patient’s clinical needs.
